RS Forklift Training Achieves Full Compliance in RTITB Audit

In January 2026, RS Forklifts Training Ltd underwent a full on site accreditation audit by the RTITB, the leading accrediting body for workplace transport and materials handling training in the UK.

We are proud to confirm that the audit outcome was Level 0: Full compliance, the highest possible result. No shortfalls were identified during the audit sample and no corrective actions were required.

For customers, this is not just a badge or a box ticking exercise. It is independent confirmation that our training environment, equipment, instructors, systems, and delivery standards meet and exceed nationally recognised best practice.

What is an RTITB audit and why does it matter

An RTITB accreditation audit is a detailed, evidence based assessment of a training provider. It goes far beyond observing a single course. The auditor examines health and safety systems, training facilities, practical areas, equipment condition, instructor competence, record keeping, certification processes, and learner welfare.

The audit is carried out on site, with physical inspections, document reviews, and live observation of training being delivered.

Achieving Level 0 means the provider is delivering training exactly as the accrediting body expects, without compromise.

Overall audit outcome: Full compliance

The headline result from the January 2026 audit was clear.

Audit Outcome: Level 0, full compliance, no shortfalls identified during the audit sample.

The auditor described RS Forklifts Training as a well managed training environment with clear segregation of people and vehicles, suitable classroom and practical facilities, and well maintained equipment.

A safer training environment for learners

One of the most important areas assessed was how effectively the training centre manages risk.

  • Pedestrian walkways are clearly marked and segregated from vehicle movements
  • Barriers, pallets, and controlled routes are used to prevent interaction between people and lift trucks
  • Emergency exits are clearly signed, unobstructed, and unlocked when the building is occupied
  • Fire evacuation procedures are displayed and briefed at the start of courses

What this means for customers
Delegates train in an environment that reflects real workplace risks, but with the controls in place to keep them safe. This reduces the likelihood of incidents during training and helps operators develop good safety habits from day one.

Professional, purpose built classroom facilities

The audit placed strong emphasis on the learning environment used for theory sessions.

  • Dedicated classrooms reserved exclusively for delegates and instructors
  • Good lighting, heating, and ventilation
  • Comfortable seating and sufficient space for the number of learners
  • Freedom from noise and distraction from other activities
  • High quality visual aids including wall mounted screens connected to instructor laptops

The auditor also noted forward planning, with additional classrooms under construction to further improve capacity and control.

What this means for customers
A professional classroom environment improves concentration, understanding, and learning outcomes. Delegates are not rushed, distracted, or uncomfortable, which supports confidence and competence.

Industry standard practical training areas

Practical training was examined in detail, including layout, space, and realism.

  • Sufficient manoeuvring space for all training exercises
  • Floors in good condition, free from debris and damage
  • Suitable racking systems with correct fixing, safety locks, and load markings
  • More than the minimum number of pallet locations and height levels
  • Palletised loads of realistic size and weight
  • Restricted areas, chicanes, and manoeuvring exercises set up safely

What this means for customers
Operators are trained in realistic conditions that mirror workplace challenges. This leads to safer, more capable operators who are genuinely prepared for the job.

Well maintained, fully inspected equipment

All training lift trucks were individually checked as part of the audit.

  • RS Forklifts Training owns six lift trucks used for training
  • All trucks are fit for purpose and free from defects
  • Thorough examinations are up to date
  • Seatbelts are fitted where applicable
  • Defect reporting systems are in place and used correctly

When faults are identified, trucks are removed from service and repaired before being used again.

What this means for customers
Training is delivered on safe, reliable equipment. Delegates are not exposed to unnecessary risk, and employers can trust that certification has been earned on properly maintained machines.

Excellent battery charging and energy replenishment controls

Battery charging areas are often overlooked, but RTITB inspected this in detail.

  • Clear signage for charging procedures and electric shock response
  • No smoking and no naked flame controls
  • Acid resistant PPE available for instructors and trainees
  • Sterile, in date eye wash facilities
  • Spill kits and neutralising agents available
  • Correct waste segregation and disposal

The auditor also noted appropriate improvements made during the audit to strengthen fire safety controls, demonstrating a proactive safety culture.

What this means for customers
Delegates learn not only how to operate trucks, but how to manage energy replenishment safely, reducing the risk of injury or damage in real workplaces.

Instructor performance rated as excellent

One of the strongest sections of the audit was the live observation of training delivery.

The instructor was scored 35 out of 36, placing the session in the Excellent category.

  • Exceptional preparation and professionalism
  • Clear explanation of objectives
  • Strict adherence to the training guide
  • Strong subject knowledge beyond the course materials
  • Effective use of questioning to confirm learning
  • High levels of delegate engagement
  • Full compliance with PPE and safety requirements

What this means for customers
Training quality is not just compliant, it is structured, engaging, and effective. Delegates understand not only what to do, but why it matters, which supports safer behaviour long after the course ends.

Robust certification and record keeping

RTITB reviewed a number of monitoring issues related to course registrations and certification records. In every case, the outcome was recorded as criteria met and OK.

What this means for customers
Certificates issued by RS Forklifts Training are accurate, legitimate, and traceable. Employers can trust that qualifications stand up to scrutiny during inspections and audits.

What this audit result really means for you

An RTITB Level 0 audit outcome reflects consistent standards, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to safety and quality.

  • Training that meets nationally recognised standards
  • Safer delegates during training and safer operators afterwards
  • Certification that employers trust
  • Facilities and equipment that reflect real world conditions
  • Instructors who know their subject and care about outcomes
